INFERTILITY IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
Basic examinations for the mother-to-be:
If you will receive the infertility treatment for the first time, MAYA will follow the following method for you;
- First, your cell production hormones are examined through blood analysis and then the condition of your ovarian is assessed through ultrasonography. These tests and examinations usually take 30 minutes and the results are taken the same day in the afternoon.
- If you have a failed infertility treatment in the past or if you have experienced recurring miscarriages; your doctor at MAYA will request a more detailed examination. This will involve advance analysises of the immunity system, clotting factors and genetic mutations. When your diagnosis is made correctly with these examinations the probability of achieving a pregnancy will increase.
Basic examinations for the father-to-be:
The main examination which should be done is the sperm analysis. In order to reach the most correct result with the sperm analysis, it is useful to come to our center after a 2 to 7 day sexual diet. The sperm cells given by you are examined in the laboratory under microscop. As a result of the sperm analysis, the number, mobility and structural/appearance features of your sperms are determined. The results of this test can be taken after 3 hours.
Semen analysis (sperm number, mobility, morphology)
| Sperm damage assessment | Number | Mobility (progressive) | Shape (Kruger criteria) |
| Normal (minimum) | 20 million/ml | 25 % | 14 % |
| Slight damage | 10-20 million /ml | 25-20 % | 14-7 % |
| Medium damage | 5-10 million /ml | 10-20 % | 4-7 % |
| Heavy damage | 5 million altı/ml | 10 altı % | Less than 4 %ı |
Decreases in the number and mobility of sperm number makes the reaching of sperm cells to the ovarian cell difficult in natural pregnancy. Distortion in the sperm morpholgy makes it difficult for the sperms reaching the ovum to fuse with ovum and fertilize. Detailed examination of the morphology according to the strict criteria is the test which is most frequently used and which gives the most meaningful results at Maya in these days in order to determinin the causes and best treatment method of male infertility. Especially in cases where the ratio of the sperms with normal morphology is less than 4% the chance to achieve natural pregnancy is extremely reduced as well as the success of conventional in vitro fertilization and vaccination treatments. The most successful results for these fathers-to-be are achieved by the microinjection application.
