INFERTILITY IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
The treatment programs applied in the infertility treatment are ordered from the simplest to the most advanced. Your treatment type will be determined by your doctor after evaluating the factor preventing the pregnancy.
We can divide the conventional treatment methods in 4 main groups.
1.Ovulation induction
The medicines to stimulate ovulation is given to the mother-to-be orally or by injection. Thus, the stimulation of the ovarian is caused and ovulation takes place.
To whom it is applied?
It is applied in the treatment of the infertility caused by the irregular ovulation of the mother-to-be. This treatment is applied in slight ovulation disorders and when the sperms have the desired quality.
2.IUI-Intrauterin Insemination
The sperms taken from the father-to-be is decompounded by special serums in laboratory. Then, dead cell residues and low quality sperms are removed to make it healthy and concentrated. Usually, ovulation increasing treatment is applied to the mother-to-be. After ovulation takes place, the sperms of the father-to-be is given to the uterine internal space by a fine and soft special syringe. If no result is achieved after the three times repeated insemination application, further treatment stages are started. Chance to achieve pregnancy is 10-15 %.
To whom it is applied?
It is applied for the unexplained infertility situations when there are problems mainly around the cervix, there are slight disorders about the numbers and mobility of the sperm or there are no problems with the parents-to-be.
3.In Vitro Fertilization
Several eggs are obtained from the mother-to-be by the administered medicine treatment. The sperms from the father-to-be is decompounded in a special manner and placed side by side in the tube. Sperm reaches to the egg itself and fertilization takes place.
To whom it is applied?
Conventional in vitro fertilization treatment is applied when the damage in the number, mobility and shape of the sperm of the father-to-be determined in the sperm analysis is medium, there are obstructions in the tubes of the mother preventing the sperms to reach to eggs, the age of the mother to be is more than 38, no pregnancy is achieved despite regular intercourse for 6 months-1 year and there is no problem with the father-to-be, no pregnancy is achieved despite 3 times insemination.
4.Microinjection (ICSI)
The stimulation of the ovarian and the follow-up of the egg development as well as the success of the in vitro fertilization treatment depend on the production of many and quality eggs in the ovarian of the mother-to-be. For this purpose, the ovarian is stimulated by the medicines stimulating egg development. These medicines are applied with syringes under the skin and inside the muscle.
The stimulation of the ovarian with the eggs takes 10 days. Within this process, mother-to-be is controlled several times with ultrasonography for the egg development. If deemed necessary, hormone levels are controlled and dose is adjusted.
